Best neighborhoods to rent in Pompton Plains?

Hey, There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Would love some local perspective. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

We moved here with our family and it was the best decision I ever made. Schools in The Heights area are improving. Kids love it here.

Came here for school and stayed because it's exactly what I was looking for. The housing market is honestly surprisingly good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I've been living here for 7 years and I'd say I have mixed feelings honestly. The walkability is hit or miss compared to other places I've lived. Overall Happy to answer more specific questions..

I've lived in Downtown for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from Phoenix, I was surprised by community vibe. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Strong job market in several industries
- The housing market scene is tough

The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Limited entertainment options

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for couples. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Came here for school and stayed because I'm still on the fence after all this time. The public transit is honestly surprisingly good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Bought a house here in 2022 and it's been a really good experience overall. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

Public transit is tough here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it exceeded my expectations.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a data analyst, 41, moved here 8 years ago from Salt Lake City. I've lived in South and The Heights, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Strong job market in several industries
2. Diverse dining options
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally underrated - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited public transit options
2. Limited entertainment options
3. The safety situation is stable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- South: Great for retirees. tough vibes, walkable.
- The Heights: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Salt Lake City, everything felt underrated. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are wild. Gas is wild. You can live comfortably on $70K-$120K here.

**Final verdict:**
No regrets on my end.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a lawyer who relocated here from Denver about 3 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Strong job market in several industries
- Good airport with direct flights

Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Not a lot of cultural diversity

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are competitive, gas is pretty good.

Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
