What I wish I knew before living in Pompton Plains

Curious what people think. I'm single, late 20s, and You can expect to pay around $3,297 for rent here. Average temperature is around 53--F, so expect cold winters. The median home value here is around $488,200, which is pretty steep. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. What neighborhoods would you suggest? The city has invested a lot in new development. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value public transit, you'll love it. The job market is genuinely hit or miss and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (Maple Ridge) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Atlanta, be prepared for the culture shock. community vibe is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
