Pontiac in the winter -how bad?
My partner and I are Poverty rate is 7.1%, which is pretty low. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Worth the trade-offs?

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a writer who relocated here from Tampa about 12 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Limited shopping options
- Homeless population growing downtown
Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are pricey, gas is pretty good.
Socially, I love the pace of life here. Hope this helps!.
