Things Pontiac needs to improve

Hey folks, I'm originally from Austin and Household incomes average around $59,579 in Pontiac. The median home value here is around $110,200, which is actually reasonable. It's a a small town city with about 11,483 people. The unemployment rate is 2.2%, which is pretty low. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The suburbs are where most families end up. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Pros:
- Close to nature
- Lots of new development
- Good healthcare facilities

Cons:
- Limited nightlife
- High property taxes
- Poor road conditions
- Limited cultural events
Worth the trade-offs? Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The city has invested a lot in new development. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The weather takes some getting used to.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from Tampa and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Old Town. It's average for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in engineering. If you're in finance you might struggle.

People: Generally solid. It took about 14 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.

Hope this helps!.
