OK so I've been here for 14 years and Crime rate is something to consider -Pontiac sits at 1,286.2 per 100K. Poverty rate is 19.6%, which is higher than I expected. With a population of 61,914, Pontiac is a smaller city. It's a a smaller city city with about 61,914 people. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The suburbs are where most families end up. Any advice would be great. TIA! It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

As someone who grew up here, it's improved dramatically in recent years. A lot has changed in the past few years though. weather used to be much affordable but now it's improving.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value outdoor recreation, you'll love it. The job market is genuinely hit or miss and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (Maple Ridge) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from San Diego, be prepared for the culture shock. food scene is completely different here. And Limited high-paying job options.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
