Anyone else love living in Pontoon Beach?

Curious what people think. I'm single, late 50s, and Crime rate is something to consider -Pontoon Beach sits at 318.7 per 100K. Average temperature is around 56--F, so the weather is moderate. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. What do you all think? Thanks for reading.

Public transit is surprisingly good here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's not perfect but it works for me.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are decent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value nightlife, you'll love it. The housing market is genuinely excellent and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. My neighborhood (Uptown) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Atlanta, be prepared for the culture shock. cultural scene is completely different here. And Property taxes are high.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
