Bought a house here in 2015 and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I love the pace of life here. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Came here for school and stayed because it's not perfect but it works for me. The job market is honestly average and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a software engineer who relocated here from San Francisco about 14 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Active local events and festivals
- Close to major attractions

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Limited entertainment options

Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are reasonable, gas is improving.

Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.

I've been here 6 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is pet-friendliness. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is pretty good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Springfield side vs the Riverside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Hope this helps!.

Weather-wise, the summers are solid and winters are established. You get used to it after the first year.

I've lived in Riverside for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Boston, I was surprised by school system. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Decent public transit for the size
- The cultural scene scene is hit or miss

The downsides:
- Dating scene is rough
- Limited entertainment options

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for singles. Definitely worth checking out..
