Hello, Military spouse here. Average temperature is around 50--F, so expect cold winters. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Anyone in a similar situation?

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from LA and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in West. It's challenging for what you get.
Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in government. If you're in marketing you might struggle.
People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: tough. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Hot take but I genuinely enjoy living here. I know a lot of people disagree but after 15 years here, that's my honest assessment.

I work in hospitality here and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The job market for my field is improving. Would recommend to anyone considering it..
