Is Port Charlotte worth it salary-wise?

Hello, I grew up here but left for a while. Poverty rate is 7.7%, which is pretty low. Median household income is $60,729, which feels about average for the area. Rent is about $1,335/month for a decent place. Crime rate is something to consider -Port Charlotte sits at 46.2 per 100K. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Has anyone dealt with this? Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The city has invested a lot in new development.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are decent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

My experience has been mostly positive. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The only thing I'd watch out for is public transit. Other than that, It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Hot take but I have mixed feelings honestly. I know a lot of people disagree but after 6 years here, that's my honest assessment.
