The weather takes some getting used to. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The city has invested a lot in new development. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Used to live on the Downtown side, now on the Springfield side. Completely different vibe. it was the best decision I ever made.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Charlotte and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Oak Park. It's underrated for what you get.
Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in marketing you might struggle.
People: Generally solid. It took about 14 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.
