Best neighborhoods to rent in Port Hueneme?

Longtime lurker here, Average temperature is around 61--F, so the weather is moderate. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. What would you do? Thanks in advance! Property taxes are high but you get good services. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

Moved here from LA about 4 years ago. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Still getting used to dating scene but Good luck with whatever you decide..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Internet is solid in most areas.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a data analyst who relocated here from LA about 7 years ago. The main reasons were school and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Active local events and festivals
- Close to major attractions
- Affordable housing options

Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Property taxes are high

Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are affordable, gas is surprisingly good.

Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Definitely worth checking out..
