Relocating to Port Huron, MI -pros and cons?

Been meaning to ask this. Crime rate is something to consider -Port Huron sits at 757.4 per 100K. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Has anyone dealt with this?

Bought a house here in 2020 and I love the pace of life here. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

Used to live on the Meadowbrook side, now on the Westside side. Completely different vibe. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Raleigh and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Old Town. It's tough for what you get.

Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in real estate. If you're in retail you might struggle.

People: Generally pretty good. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: average. Tons of options if you like Southern.

No regrets on my end..

The food scene here is better than expected. Tons of great BBQ places. I love the pace of life here.
