How is Port Jervis for outdoor activities?

Hey, I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Worth the trade-offs?

Used to live on the Fairview side, now on the Downtown side. Completely different vibe. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

I've been living here for 7 years and I'd say I'm still on the fence after all this time. The dating scene is excellent compared to other places I've lived. Overall No regrets on my end..

We moved here with our family and I'm still on the fence after all this time. Schools in Downtown area are surprisingly good. Kids love it here.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a teacher who relocated here from Salt Lake City about 7 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Good airport with direct flights
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Limited shopping options

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are wild, gas is excellent.

Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.

I've been here 6 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is job market. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into running, this place is decent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Midtown side vs the Oak Park side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

The food scene here is hit or miss. Tons of great craft beer places. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

Came here for a fresh start and stayed because it was the best decision I ever made. The food scene is honestly solid and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I've lived in Greenfield for about 13 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Salt Lake City, I was surprised by job market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Strong job market in several industries
- The healthcare scene is hit or miss

The downsides:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Limited entertainment options

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for families. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Bought a house here in 2023 and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Property values have gone up significantly since then.
