What surprised you most about Port Jervis?

Been living here since 2014. Rent is about $1,247/month for a decent place. Average temperature is around 49--F, so expect cold winters. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Anyone in a similar situation? The weather takes some getting used to. The weather takes some getting used to. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The suburbs are where most families end up. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.
