Top 5 things I love about Port Lavaca

I'm a 53-year-old marketing manager and Median household income is $65,395, which feels about average for the area. It's a a small town city with about 11,410 people. Rent is about $1,024/month for a decent place. With a population of 11,410, Port Lavaca is a small town. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Would love some local perspective. The city has invested a lot in new development. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a chef who relocated here from Houston about 5 years ago. The main reasons were weather and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good schools in most areas
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Limited shopping options

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are stable, gas is decent.

Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Happy to answer more specific questions..

I work in retail here and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The job market for my field is hit or miss. Hope this helps!.
