Average temperature is around 51--F, so expect cold winters. Rent is about $1,909/month for a decent place. You can expect to pay around $1,909 for rent here. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

We moved here with our family and it was the best decision I ever made. Schools in Cedar Grove area are tough. Kids love it here.

I've lived in Midtown for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Seattle, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- The food scene scene is surprisingly good
The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Can feel isolated
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for families. No regrets on my end..

Bought a house here in 2018 and the quality of life is solid. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from Pittsburgh and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Old Town. It's tough for what you get.
Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in marketing. If you're in engineering you might struggle.
People: Generally average. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: solid. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value food scene, you'll love it. The cost of living is genuinely average and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (West) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from New York, be prepared for the culture shock. school system is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Used to live on the South side, now on the Eastside side. Completely different vibe. I love the pace of life here.

Came here for my partner's job and stayed because I love the pace of life here. The outdoor recreation is honestly better than expected and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Weather-wise, the summers are underrated and winters are reasonable. You get used to it after the first year.
