Not sure if this has been asked before, but With a population of 63,818, Port Orange is a smaller city. The unemployment rate is 2.6%, which is pretty low. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Am I overthinking this? It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a chef who relocated here from San Diego about 3 years ago. The main reasons were work and a fresh start.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Four distinct seasons
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Summers can be brutally hot
Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are reasonable, gas is decent.
Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Definitely worth checking out..
