Day-to-day life in Port Orange, FL

Hey folks, You can expect to pay around $1,448 for rent here. Rent is about $1,448/month for a decent place. With a population of 63,818, Port Orange is a smaller city. Average temperature is around 72--F, so it's warm year-round. The unemployment rate is 2.6%, which is pretty low. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Pros:
- Nice parks and trails
- Lots of new development
- Plenty of shopping options
- Good airport connections

Cons:
- Traffic can be terrible
- Limited public transit
- Rising rent prices
- Lack of diversity
- Mosquitoes and humidity
Would love some local perspective. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. I've lived in Highland for about 13 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from Miami, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Strong job market in several industries
- The outdoor recreation scene is decent

The downsides:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Far from beaches/mountains

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for young professionals. Feel free to reach out with questions..
