Is Port Orange getting better or worse?

Hey everyone, I relocated for work and Crime rate is something to consider -Port Orange sits at 46.0 per 100K. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Does this match your experience? Property taxes are high but you get good services. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The suburbs are where most families end up.

Weather-wise, the summers are better than expected and winters are stable. You get used to it after the first year.

I've lived in The Heights for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Charlotte, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good airport with direct flights
- The healthcare scene is hit or miss

The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Limited entertainment options

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for families. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
