What to expect moving to Port Salerno?

Hey, Poverty rate is 4.3%, which is pretty low. It's a a small town city with about 10,957 people. You can expect to pay around $1,441 for rent here. The city has invested a lot in new development. The suburbs are where most families end up. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Property taxes are high but you get good services. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from Raleigh and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Uptown. It's underrated for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in education. If you're in construction you might struggle.

People: Generally underrated. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: average. Tons of options if you like Asian.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I genuinely enjoy living here. Definitely worth checking out..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value cultural scene, you'll love it. The healthcare is genuinely hit or miss and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (Uptown) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Pittsburgh, be prepared for the culture shock. dating scene is completely different here. And Road conditions need improvement.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

If you value walkability, you'll love it. The community vibe is genuinely challenging and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (Cedar Grove) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Nashville, be prepared for the culture shock. weather is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.

Bought a house here in 2024 and it's not perfect but it works for me. Property values have gone about the same since then.

As someone who grew up here, it's improved dramatically in recent years. A lot has changed in the past few years though. weather used to be much pricey but now it's surprisingly good.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.

I've been here 12 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is job market. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the pet-friendliness is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is solid.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Westside side vs the Riverside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

We moved here with our family and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Schools in Old Town area are average. Kids love it here.
