Longtime lurker here, We're a young couple and With a population of 220K, Port St. Lucie is a mid-size city. The unemployment rate is 3.3%, which is pretty low. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The city has invested a lot in new development. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from Portland about 4 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and cost of living.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good healthcare facilities
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Not very walkable outside downtown
Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are manageable, gas is hit or miss.
Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. No regrets on my end..

Weather-wise, the summers are better than expected and winters are established. You get used to it after the first year.

I work in consulting here and it's been a really good experience overall. The job market for my field is pretty good. Definitely worth checking out..

Came here for a fresh start and stayed because I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The dating scene is honestly hit or miss and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
