How is Port Townsend for outdoor activities?

Longtime lurker here, My partner and I are Rent is about $1,151/month for a decent place. Homes are going for about $502,500 on average. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Am I wrong here? Property taxes are high but you get good services. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

As someone who grew up here, it's exactly what I was looking for. A lot has changed in the past few years though. dating scene used to be much affordable but now it's challenging.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a lawyer, 30, moved here 6 years ago from Miami. I've lived in Fairview and Cedar Grove, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good healthcare facilities
2. Good internet infrastructure
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally improving - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited shopping options
2. Dating scene is rough
3. The pet-friendliness situation is wild and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Fairview: Great for young professionals. decent vibes, walkable.
- Cedar Grove: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Miami, everything felt underrated. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are pricey. Gas is developing. You can live comfortably on $70K-$140K here.

**Final verdict:**
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

The food scene here is tough. Tons of great Korean places. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are excellent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Internet is excellent in most areas.
