Random thought, Born and raised here. The median home value here is around $276,000, which seems about average. Poverty rate is 4.6%, which is pretty low. Household incomes average around $81,582 in Port Washington. Homes are going for about $276,000 on average. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Would love some local perspective. The weather takes some getting used to. I'm a writer and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. The community is tough and there's always something going on.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I have mixed feelings honestly. Internet is improving in most areas.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a sales manager who relocated here from San Francisco about 3 years ago. The main reasons were family and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good airport with direct flights
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Road conditions need improvement
Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are wild, gas is excellent.
Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Good luck with whatever you decide..
