Random thought, With a population of 12,569, Port Washington is a small town. Median household income is $81,582, which feels pretty solid for the area. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Worth the trade-offs? Thanks for reading. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are improving, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.
I've been here 12 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is outdoor recreation. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the pet-friendliness is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is average.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Westside side vs the Fairview side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Hot take but there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. I know a lot of people disagree but after 7 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. it's not perfect but it works for me. Compared to Baltimore it's solid.

I've been living here for 3 years and I'd say I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The dating scene is challenging compared to other places I've lived. Overall It's not for everyone but it works for us..
