Things Port Washington needs to improve

Hello, Been living here since 2006. It's a a small town city with about 12,569 people. The city has invested a lot in new development. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Does this match your experience? Property taxes are high but you get good services.

We moved here with our family and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Schools in Fairview area are decent. Kids love it here.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a social worker who relocated here from Atlanta about 2 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Affordable housing options
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Not a lot of cultural diversity

Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are stable, gas is excellent.

Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Definitely worth checking out..

Public transit is solid here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's been a really good experience overall.
