Worst things about Portage Lakes nobody talks about

It's a a small town city with about 6,199 people. Household incomes average around $66,027 in Portage Lakes. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The suburbs are where most families end up. What are your go-to spots? The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

I've lived in Fairview for about 10 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Boston, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Lots of new development happening
- The nightlife scene is better than expected

The downsides:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Limited shopping options

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for singles. Happy to answer more specific questions..
