Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.
I've been here 11 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is dating scene. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the weather is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is improving.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Midtown side vs the Eastside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Definitely worth checking out..

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Active local events and festivals
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Homeless population growing downtown
Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are pricey, gas is average.
Socially, the quality of life is solid. Hope this helps!.

I've lived in Eastside for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from Baltimore, I was surprised by nightlife. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Lots of new development happening
- The nightlife scene is decent
The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Far from beaches/mountains
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for remote workers. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

If you value school system, you'll love it. The community vibe is genuinely pretty good and I've found I love the pace of life here. My neighborhood (Pine Hills) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Denver, be prepared for the culture shock. food scene is completely different here. And Not a lot of cultural diversity.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
