Been meaning to ask this. Crime rate is something to consider -Porterville sits at 318.9 per 100K. The median home value here is around $273,600, which seems about average. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Am I wrong here? Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Charlotte and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Eastside. It's tough for what you get.
Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in real estate. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.
People: Generally tough. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: improving. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.
