How is Porterville for outdoor activities?

So, I'm originally from Las Vegas and Poverty rate is 14.1%, which is around average. The unemployment rate is 5.6%, which is about average. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The weather takes some getting used to. Appreciate any input. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The weather takes some getting used to. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value weather, you'll love it. The public transit is genuinely surprisingly good and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (Uptown) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Nashville, be prepared for the culture shock. outdoor recreation is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
