Worst things about Porterville nobody talks about

Not sure if this has been asked before, but Rent is about $1,111/month for a decent place. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The weather takes some getting used to. The city has invested a lot in new development.

The food scene here is average. Tons of great Vietnamese places. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

Bought a house here in 2024 and I have mixed feelings honestly. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's improved dramatically in recent years. The only thing I'd watch out for is walkability. Other than that, Definitely worth checking out..

As someone who grew up here, it exceeded my expectations. A lot has changed in the past few years though. pet-friendliness used to be much established but now it's better than expected.
