Moving to Portland for work -advice?

I'm originally from Kansas City and Rent is about $1,112/month for a decent place. Median household income is $91,522, which feels pretty solid for the area. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Worth the trade-offs? The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.

I've been here 15 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is pet-friendliness. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the nightlife is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is improving.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Cedar Grove side vs the Westside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
