Not sure if this has been asked before, but Median household income is $81,944, which feels pretty solid for the area. Am I wrong here?

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from Phoenix about 7 years ago. The main reasons were school and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Diverse dining options
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Nightlife is limited
Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are developing, gas is pretty good.
Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Used to live on the Greenfield side, now on the The Heights side. Completely different vibe. it's improved dramatically in recent years.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.
I've been here 9 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is traffic. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the healthcare is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is pretty good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Springfield side vs the Maple Ridge side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I've lived in Westside for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from New York, I was surprised by job market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- The community vibe scene is improving
The downsides:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Dating scene is rough
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for young professionals. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a lawyer, 25, moved here 2 years ago from Miami. I've lived in East and Sunset, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Great outdoor activities nearby
2. Active local events and festivals
3. Close to major attractions
4. The people are generally improving - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Not very walkable outside downtown
2. Far from beaches/mountains
3. The community vibe situation is wild and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- East: Great for couples. better than expected vibes, walkable.
- Sunset: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Miami, everything felt better than expected. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are pricey. Gas is developing. You can live comfortably on $90K-$100K here.
**Final verdict:**
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
