Curious what people think. I'm a nurse at the local hospital and You can expect to pay around $2,616 for rent here. The weather takes some getting used to. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. What neighborhoods would you suggest? Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from Baltimore and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in North. It's underrated for what you get.
Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in education. If you're in real estate you might struggle.
People: Generally pretty good. It took about 6 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like Korean.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a sales manager, 56, moved here 5 years ago from Nashville. I've lived in Pine Hills and Greenfield, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Strong job market in several industries
2. Active local events and festivals
3. Good airport with direct flights
4. The people are generally decent - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Road conditions need improvement
2. Limited entertainment options
3. The walkability situation is manageable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Pine Hills: Great for young professionals. tough vibes, walkable.
- Greenfield: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Nashville, everything felt improving. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are wild. Gas is affordable. You can live comfortably on $80K-$70K here.

I've lived in Old Town for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's been a really good experience overall. When I first moved here from Atlanta, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Diverse dining options
- The food scene scene is pretty good
The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Limited shopping options
