Remote worker thinking about Potsdam

I relocated for work and The unemployment rate is 3.5%, which is pretty low. The median home value here is around $144,200, which is actually reasonable. Median household income is $32,061, which feels on the lower side for the area. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Property taxes are high but you get good services. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Anyone in a similar situation? I'd say it's better for families than young singles. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The suburbs are where most families end up. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. I've been living here for 3 years and I'd say I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The cultural scene is solid compared to other places I've lived. Overall Definitely worth checking out..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Austin about 4 years ago. The main reasons were weather and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Strong job market in several industries
- Good airport with direct flights

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Limited public transit options

Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are stable, gas is challenging.

Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

We moved here with our family and I love the pace of life here. Schools in Eastside area are tough. Kids love it here.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are average, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Hot take but it's improved dramatically in recent years. I know a lot of people disagree but after 5 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Public transit is hit or miss here. You'll probably need a car for most things. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.

I've been here 4 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is weather. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the job market is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is average.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Greenfield side vs the Eastside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
