Working in Poway -salaries realistic?

Anyone else feel this way? Median household income is $143,825, which feels pretty solid for the area. Homes are going for about $971,500 on average. The suburbs are where most families end up. The weather takes some getting used to. What neighborhoods would you suggest? It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from Baltimore and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Midtown. It's tough for what you get.

Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in government you might struggle.

People: Generally excellent. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: average. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

As someone who grew up here, I love the pace of life here. A lot has changed in the past few years though. public transit used to be much affordable but now it's surprisingly good.
