Not sure if this has been asked before, but Poverty rate is 8.9%, which is pretty low. Household incomes average around $96,961 in Powder Springs. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Appreciate any input. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it was the best decision I ever made. Internet is improving in most areas.

Public transit is average here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's not perfect but it works for me.

The food scene here is decent. Tons of great Italian places. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is safety. it's exactly what I was looking for. Worth doing your research before committing.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.
I've been here 10 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is pet-friendliness. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the job market is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is tough.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Meadowbrook side vs the Highland side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Downtown for 12 years. Moved from Raleigh for weather. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is decent. We bought in 2015 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts.
**Employment:**
hospitality is strong here. healthcare is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are reasonable for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
I love the pace of life here. The outdoor scene is improving - we have state parks within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Downtown schools are challenging. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Winters are long and cold. Nightlife is limited. And cost of living can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For young professionals, I'd say this is a 6/10. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
