Been meaning to ask this. Crime rate is something to consider -Powell sits at 874.4 per 100K. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Any advice would be great. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I love the pace of life here. Feel free to reach out with questions..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a sales manager, 45, moved here 8 years ago from Houston. I've lived in Greenfield and West, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Low crime in most neighborhoods
2. Good healthcare facilities
3. Strong job market in several industries
4. The people are generally challenging - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Rising rent and home prices
2. Limited high-paying job options
3. The cost of living situation is established and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Greenfield: Great for families. decent vibes, walkable.
- West: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Houston, everything felt tough. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are affordable. Gas is established. You can live comfortably on $90K-$130K here.
**Final verdict:**
Happy to answer more specific questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Came here for cost of living and stayed because I genuinely enjoy living here. The pet-friendliness is honestly hit or miss and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I've lived in Pine Hills for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from Austin, I was surprised by food scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Strong job market in several industries
- The school system scene is improving
The downsides:
- Homeless population growing downtown
- Far from beaches/mountains
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for couples. Feel free to reach out with questions..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from Dallas and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Fairview. It's challenging for what you get.
Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in tech. If you're in consulting you might struggle.
People: Generally excellent. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: average. Tons of options if you like Mexican.

Public transit is hit or miss here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it exceeded my expectations.

My experience has been mostly positive. the quality of life is solid. The only thing I'd watch out for is housing market. Other than that, It's not for everyone but it works for us..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Miami and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Highland. It's pretty good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.
People: Generally average. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Italian.
