Honest thoughts on life in Powell

Curious what people think. We're a young couple and You can expect to pay around $1,153 for rent here. With a population of 13,544, Powell is a small town. Homes are going for about $264,500 on average. Average temperature is around 60--F, so the weather is moderate. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Thanks! The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value outdoor recreation, you'll love it. The public transit is genuinely decent and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. My neighborhood (West) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from San Diego, be prepared for the culture shock. safety is completely different here. And Chain restaurants dominate.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want public transit, then yeah this place is great. But if public transit matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Weather-wise, the summers are average and winters are stable. You get used to it after the first year.

I've lived in Old Town for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from Dallas, I was surprised by community vibe. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- The traffic scene is improving

The downsides:
- Homeless population growing downtown
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for families. Good luck with whatever you decide..
