If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I have mixed feelings honestly. Internet is average in most areas.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from Pittsburgh and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Downtown. It's improving for what you get.

Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in finance. If you're in tech you might struggle.

People: Generally tough. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: improving. Tons of options if you like Italian.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.

I've been here 6 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is dating scene. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is hit or miss.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Greenfield side vs the Cedar Grove side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Came here for family and stayed because the quality of life is solid. The outdoor recreation is honestly improving and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in East for 12 years. Moved from Miami for work. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is improving. We bought in 2015 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts.

**Employment:**
marketing is strong here. retail is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are affordable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I have mixed feelings honestly. The outdoor scene is underrated - we have beaches within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. East schools are hit or miss. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Rising rent and home prices. Limited shopping options. And traffic can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For young professionals, I'd say this is a 7/10. No regrets on my end.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I've lived in Fairview for about 1 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from Denver, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Decent public transit for the size
- The traffic scene is excellent

The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Nightlife is limited

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for retirees. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Hot take but it's been a really good experience overall. I know a lot of people disagree but after 8 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.

I've been here 15 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is food scene. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the school system is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is better than expected.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The The Heights side vs the Uptown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I've been in South for 5 years. Moved from Dallas for quality of life. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is challenging. We bought in 2019 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.

**Employment:**
retail is strong here. marketing is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are established for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's improved dramatically in recent years. The outdoor scene is challenging - we have hiking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. South schools are underrated. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Not a lot of cultural diversity. Bugs and humidity in summer. And cultural scene can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 9/10. Hope this helps!. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I've been in South for 3 years. Moved from Charlotte for quality of life. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is decent. We bought in 2018 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.

**Employment:**
consulting is strong here. construction is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are reasonable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's not perfect but it works for me. The outdoor scene is excellent - we have state parks within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. South schools are underrated. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Traffic during rush hour is rough. Far from beaches/mountains. And community vibe can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For young professionals, I'd say this is a 7/10. No regrets on my end.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from Boston and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Greenfield. It's improving for what you get.

Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in legal. If you're in retail you might struggle.

People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like Indian.

Good luck with whatever you decide..
