Powells Crossroads housing prices -when will it stop?
First post here. I'm originally from Cincinnati and The median home value here is around $173,000, which is actually reasonable. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Thoughts?

My experience has been mostly positive. I love the pace of life here. The only thing I'd watch out for is safety. Other than that, Hope this helps!.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.
I've been here 14 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is housing market. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the pet-friendliness is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is average.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Uptown side vs the Riverside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Compared to Charlotte it's solid.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Sunset for 1 years. Moved from LA for my partner's job. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is better than expected. We bought in 2020 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.
**Employment:**
manufacturing is strong here. legal is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are competitive for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
I have mixed feelings honestly. The outdoor scene is tough - we have beaches within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Sunset schools are tough. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Rising rent and home prices. Not very walkable outside downtown. And weather can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For retirees, I'd say this is a 9/10. Feel free to reach out with questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's been a really good experience overall. Internet is surprisingly good in most areas.
