Relocating to Prairie View, TX -pros and cons?

I relocated for work and Crime rate is something to consider -Prairie View sits at 76.4 per 100K. You can expect to pay around $837 for rent here. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from Portland about 13 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good schools in most areas
- Good internet infrastructure

Cons that are real:
- Homeless population growing downtown
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are wild, gas is solid.

Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Moved here from Miami about 8 years ago. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Still getting used to pet-friendliness but Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I've been living here for 14 years and I'd say it's not perfect but it works for me. The pet-friendliness is better than expected compared to other places I've lived. Overall Feel free to reach out with questions..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 15 years ago from Tampa and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in West. It's average for what you get.

Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in marketing. If you're in government you might struggle.

People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 6 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Mexican.

Feel free to reach out with questions..
