Working in Prairie Village -salaries realistic?

Not sure if this has been asked before, but Homes are going for about $402,600 on average. Rent is about $1,655/month for a decent place. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. What neighborhoods would you suggest? There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Fairview for 10 years. Moved from Seattle for school. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is surprisingly good. We bought in 2015 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.

**Employment:**
retail is strong here. construction is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are manageable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's not perfect but it works for me. The outdoor scene is improving - we have beaches within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Fairview schools are improving. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Property taxes are high. Limited shopping options. And dating scene can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For remote workers, I'd say this is a 9/10. It's not for everyone but it works for us.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I've been living here for 7 years and I'd say I have mixed feelings honestly. The housing market is underrated compared to other places I've lived. Overall Good luck with whatever you decide..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value cultural scene, you'll love it. The cultural scene is genuinely hit or miss and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (North) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Minneapolis, be prepared for the culture shock. housing market is completely different here. And Can feel isolated.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
