Is Prairieville still affordable?

Hey folks, We have two kids and You can expect to pay around $1,225 for rent here. Average temperature is around 69--F, so the weather is moderate. Rent is about $1,225/month for a decent place. Crime rate is something to consider -Prairieville sits at 498.8 per 100K. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The city has invested a lot in new development. The weather takes some getting used to. What would you do? Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.

I've been here 15 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is public transit. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the walkability is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is solid.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The West side vs the Old Town side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I love the pace of life here. Internet is solid in most areas.
