Moving to Prescott for work -advice?

Been meaning to ask this. We're a young couple and The median home value here is around $528,500, which is pretty steep. Household incomes average around $69,151 in Prescott. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. What neighborhoods would you suggest? Any help is appreciated. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The suburbs are where most families end up. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in West for 15 years. Moved from Phoenix for retirement. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is improving. We bought in 2018 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.

**Employment:**
engineering is strong here. retail is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are developing for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I genuinely enjoy living here. The outdoor scene is decent - we have ski resorts within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. West schools are improving. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Property taxes are high. Road conditions need improvement. And housing market can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For singles, I'd say this is a 5/10. Feel free to reach out with questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Public transit is better than expected here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 12 years ago from Phoenix and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Greenfield. It's underrated for what you get.

Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in legal. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.

People: Generally decent. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like craft beer.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Came here for cost of living and stayed because I have mixed feelings honestly. The weather is honestly hit or miss and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is outdoor recreation. I love the pace of life here. Worth doing your research before committing.

Used to live on the Highland side, now on the Old Town side. Completely different vibe. it was the best decision I ever made.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a social worker, 26, moved here 2 years ago from Houston. I've lived in Old Town and East, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good healthcare facilities
2. Strong job market in several industries
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally average - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Homeless population growing downtown
2. Limited entertainment options
3. The nightlife situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Old Town: Great for singles. tough vibes, walkable.
- East: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Houston, everything felt average. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are affordable. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $50K-$70K here.

**Final verdict:**
Good luck with whatever you decide.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
