Couple moving to Presque Isle from out of state

Anyone else feel this way? Median household income is $57,396, which feels about average for the area. It's a a small town city with about 8,736 people. The median home value here is around $142,400, which is actually reasonable. Average temperature is around 39--F, so bundle up in winter. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Is this normal for Presque Isle? Property taxes are high but you get good services. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The suburbs are where most families end up. The weather takes some getting used to. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is job market. it's exactly what I was looking for. Worth doing your research before committing.

Used to live on the Highland side, now on the Greenfield side. Completely different vibe. I genuinely enjoy living here.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a contractor who relocated here from Nashville about 14 years ago. The main reasons were school and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Active local events and festivals
- Affordable housing options

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Can feel isolated

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are stable, gas is surprisingly good.

Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a electrician who relocated here from Tampa about 7 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Lots of new development happening
- Good internet infrastructure

Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Homeless population growing downtown

Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are developing, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
