Should I move to Preston or stay in Las Vegas?

Hey folks, I'm a remote worker and Average temperature is around 64--F, so the weather is moderate. You can expect to pay around $1,704 for rent here. With a population of 1,617, Preston is a small town. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The weather takes some getting used to. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Baltimore and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Lakewood. It's improving for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in government. If you're in legal you might struggle.

People: Generally excellent. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: decent. Tons of options if you like seafood.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I've lived in Highland for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Austin, I was surprised by cultural scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- The community vibe scene is excellent

The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Far from beaches/mountains

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for young professionals. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a nurse who relocated here from Salt Lake City about 3 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and school.

Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Lots of new development happening
- Four distinct seasons

Cons that are real:
- Can feel isolated
- Limited shopping options

Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are established, gas is surprisingly good.

Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. No regrets on my end..

As someone who grew up here, the quality of life is solid. A lot has changed in the past few years though. walkability used to be much pricey but now it's hit or miss.
