Job market in Prichard for tech?

Anyone else feel this way? Military spouse here. The unemployment rate is 4.8%, which is about average. Crime rate is something to consider -Prichard sits at 1,409.8 per 100K. Household incomes average around $35,331 in Prichard. Homes are going for about $79,900 on average. With a population of 19,121, Prichard is a small town. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The weather takes some getting used to. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value job market, you'll love it. The public transit is genuinely improving and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. My neighborhood (Westside) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Dallas, be prepared for the culture shock. cost of living is completely different here. And Limited high-paying job options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are excellent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Hot take but it's been a really good experience overall. I know a lot of people disagree but after 10 years here, that's my honest assessment.

If you value nightlife, you'll love it. The nightlife is genuinely better than expected and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. My neighborhood (Meadowbrook) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.

Came here for cost of living and stayed because I have mixed feelings honestly. The job market is honestly better than expected and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
