Top 5 things I love about Prichard

Not sure if this has been asked before, but Born and raised here. Median household income is $35,331, which feels on the lower side for the area. Average temperature is around 68--F, so the weather is moderate. The median home value here is around $79,900, which is actually reasonable. Poverty rate is 27.9%, which is higher than I expected. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value cultural scene, you'll love it. The outdoor recreation is genuinely surprisingly good and I've found I love the pace of life here. My neighborhood (Old Town) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Salt Lake City, be prepared for the culture shock. healthcare is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
