Biggest downsides of living in Princeton?

Longtime lurker here, The median home value here is around $386,000, which seems about average. Poverty rate is 10.0%, which is pretty low. With a population of 41,476, Princeton is a smaller city. Median household income is $82,130, which feels pretty solid for the area. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

Pros:
- Close to nature
- Low taxes
- Good healthcare facilities
- Walkable downtown

Cons:
- Cold winters
- Not very walkable
- Lack of diversity
- Boring for young people
Anyone in a similar situation? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The suburbs are where most families end up. We moved here with our family and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Schools in South area are pretty good. Kids love it here.

Public transit is solid here. You'll probably need a car for most things. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a writer who relocated here from Denver about 13 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Decent public transit for the size
- Good internet infrastructure

Cons that are real:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are pricey, gas is average.

Socially, the quality of life is solid. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a social worker who relocated here from Denver about 10 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good internet infrastructure
- Affordable housing options
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are growing, gas is surprisingly good.

Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Hope this helps!.
