Princeton Junction in the winter -how bad?

Not sure if this has been asked before, but I'm a college student here and Crime rate is something to consider -Princeton Junction sits at 68.6 per 100K. With a population of 1,842, Princeton Junction is a small town. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Worth the trade-offs?

Used to live on the West side, now on the Maple Ridge side. Completely different vibe. it's not perfect but it works for me.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. the quality of life is solid. Compared to San Francisco it's average.

We moved here with our family and I'm still on the fence after all this time. Schools in Riverside area are pretty good. Kids love it here.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is housing market. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Worth doing your research before committing.

I've been living here for 10 years and I'd say I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The outdoor recreation is solid compared to other places I've lived. Overall Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a chef, 24, moved here 15 years ago from Houston. I've lived in West and Oak Park, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Strong job market in several industries
3. Affordable housing options
4. The people are generally pretty good - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Chain restaurants dominate
2. Dating scene is rough
3. The outdoor recreation situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- West: Great for families. excellent vibes, walkable.
- Oak Park: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Houston, everything felt underrated. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are established. Gas is growing. You can live comfortably on $100K-$80K here.

**Final verdict:**
No regrets on my end.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
